The Paragon Board is an additional system introduced in Diablo 4 to enhance character customization beyond their skills. Upon reaching level 50, players will unlock the Paragon Boards and progress through them up to level 100, depending on their desired character direction. As players earn Paragon XP (after level 50), they gain access to new tiles and unlock 5 tiles per Paragon level. Each class has a unique Starting Paragon Board, which may be positioned at the center or one end of the board. From the Starting Node, players can expand their board one tile at a time using the points they earn three times per level from level 50 to 100. At the edge of each board, there is a gate tile where players can choose to attach a new Paragon board they wish to explore. It is possible to preview other available boards and the legendary and rare tiles they contain even before reaching the gate tile.

Choosing a board involves several steps. Firstly, players need to decide which boards they want to invest in. Each class has 8 boards, in addition to a Starting Board, but players will not have enough points to invest in all of them, similar to the Skill Tree. It is recommended to scan the boards and create a priority list. If a Legendary node is particularly powerful and synergistic with your build, it is advisable to prioritize investing in it. The Legendary node sets the overall theme of the board, so if it is strong, chances are the other nodes will be as well. It is important not to overlook defense. Many players tend to focus too much on offensive nodes and end up lacking sufficient health and defense. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure a good balance of offense and defense when selecting boards. Ultimately, the best boards will depend on how well the nodes align with your specific build. There are various types of nodes to consider, and their values are not equal. Understanding what makes a node valuable and being able to compare them against others is essential.

Gate tiles are located at the edge of the Paragon Board. Once reached, players unlock a new board and can choose from a list of available boards. Additionally, players have the option to rotate the newly placed board. Selecting the gate tile also grants a +5 stat bonus to Strength, Willpower, Intelligence, or Dexterity.
